A workshop for those who feel tired, overwhelmed or run down, featuring poses and breathwork that support toning the vagus nerve, the largest cranial nerve that governs our fight-or-flight response -- and alternatively, our ability to process and navigate what comes our way.
Gratitude flow: a slow vinyasa class combining mantra, movement and mindfulness. We understand gratitude as the basis for contentment in our daily lives. While we sometimes imagine this quality as something inherent within us, gratitude is actually something that can be cultivates and mastered, like any other skill. In this workshop we'll put gratitude into practice, and you'll leave feeling more positive and a lot lighter!
This practice is centred on visshuddha, which relates to the neck, shoulders and throat. The neck and shoulders are one of the most common sites for strain. Because there is a strong psychological component to this tension, we need a multi-faceted approach to work through these areas. In this workshop we will combine sound meditation with stretches primarily targeting the neck and shoulders, ending the practice with therapeutic touch and mantra.
All levels welcome and very beginner friendly!
Winter is a time when the movements of the earth slow down and we have fewer hours of sunlight, leaving us with lower energy reserves. The principles of yoga and Ayurveda stipulate that in order to be in harmony with ourselves we should live in harmony with nature and the seasons. Thus we should use winter as a time to restore ourselves, committing to only what is naturally within our boundaries at that time. It is natural to do a bit less, or even to let go of 'doing' altogether at certain moments.
This is a deeply restorative practice that targets the back line of the body and especially the lower back. We honour the natural urge to slow down and regenerate in preparation for the spring, when things become new, fresh and active again.
The feet are the foundation of your posture and play an important role in supporting the lower back. Learn how increasing power and mobility through the legs connects you to core strength and stability of the spine.
